Jan Bontjes van Beek
Short biography of the Fischerhude artist Jan Bontjes van BeekHe was borne 1899 in Vejle and passed away in Berlin in 1969.
After a potter apprenticeship and studies of glaze engineering, he founded the Fischerhude Kunstkeramik in 1925.
His first exhibition was in Munich in 1926.
In 1932 he moved to Berlin to set up an own ceramic workshop.
In 1947 he became professor of art in Berlin, same 1960 in Hamburg.
In 1963 he got the Hamburg Culture Award and the Berlin Art Award in 1965.
