<BODY> <H1>Jan Bontjes van Beek</H1> <P><SPAN STYLE="font-family:Arial; font-size:12pt"><STRONG> <A HREF="fku70ca.htm" TARGET="_top">Short biography of the Fischerhude artist Jan Bontjes van Beek</A></STRONG>He was borne 1899 in Vejle and passed away in Berlin in 1969.<BR>After a potter apprenticeship and studies of glaze engineering, he founded the Fischerhude Kunstkeramik in 1925.<BR>His first exhibition was in Munich in 1926.<BR>In 1932 he moved to Berlin to set up an own ceramic workshop.<BR>In 1947 he became professor of art in Berlin, same 1960 in Hamburg.<BR>In 1963 he got the Hamburg Culture Award and the Berlin Art Award in 1965.</SPAN></P> </BODY>
