He was borne in Lippstadt in 1885 and passed away in Bremen in 1963.
After attending the art academies in Kassel and Munich, he lived and worked in Fischerhude from 1911 to 1926.
He was founder and after WWII president of the Bremen artists' union.
He became well known for his impressionistic landscapes.
