|The farmers of Fischerhude|
|Since ages, the free farmers of Fischerhude have the right|
to fish in all watercourses of the Wuemme river and to do the small game hunt in the surrounding areas.
Up to now, wild ducks were fed on in small cottages directly on the watercourses within the village, for using them as decoys during the ducks hunt (Pooljagd) in the late autumn.
According to taken measures of hydraulic engineering, the fishing fortune of the Wuemme got lost; but the swamps became green meadows and the former flooding areas became fertile farmland.
Today the farmers mainly persue dairy farming and horse breeding, and ecological agriculture at modernized family farms.
||Among each other, they still speak their old dialect of|
North German language.
